Sinia Maile

Sinia Maile is the Operations Coordinator at The Gault Center, where she supports the organization’s administrative functions and advances its mission of promoting justice for all children by ensuring excellence in youth defense. Before joining The Gault Center, Sinia worked with the Utah Juvenile Defender Attorneys, where she gained a love for youth defense and public service. Here, she was responsible for managing the organization’s administrative operations and helping facilitate its work on behalf of youth defenders across Utah. 

Sinia holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah, where she also earned a Bachelors in Political Science with an emphasis in Law and Politics and a certificate in International Relations. While she is proud of her academic achievements, it is her lived experience with the school-to-prison pipeline and as the daughter of an incarcerated parent that most deeply informs her commitment to youth defense and her passion for The Gault Center’s mission. Her personal experiences have shaped her belief in the importance of advocacy, dignity, and meaningful opportunities for young people navigating the justice system. 

Sinia’s connection to community extends beyond her professional work. She regularly volunteers with nonprofit organizations and community initiatives focused on advancing equity in Salt Lake City’s West Side and uplifting Pasifika communities both locally and across the Pacific. In her free time, you can find her with her dance teams, using traditional Pasifika dance as a way to celebrate, preserve, and share her culture while fostering connection and community.
